United Board of Health

The United Board of Health (Board) is a thirteen (13) member appointed body responsible to the public for the operation of the Galveston County Health District. The function of the Board is to establish community health policies that govern the Galveston County Health District. The authoritative action of the Board shall be taken only at regular or special meetings. The Board has assigned the authority and responsibility for the operation of the Galveston County Coordinated Community Clinics (4C's) to the Governing Board of the Galveston County Coordinated Community Clinics. The Board meets monthly. The Board oversees the provision of all the ten (10) essential public health functions found in Chapter 121. §121.002 of the Texas Health and Safety Codes unless otherwise restricted by law. 4C's Governing Board

The Governing Board of the 4C's Clinics is the policy setting board for the 4C's Clinics. The board consists of no less than nine (9) and no more than fifteen (15) consumer- majority persons.

As such, the 4C's Governing Board meets federal requirements for Community Health Centers and provides regular oversight for the operational and financial policies for the 4C's Clinics.

The authoritative action of the 4C's Governing Board shall be taken only at regular or special meetings. The 4C's Governing Board meets monthly. Board members serve a three year term. Click here to read the 4C's Governing Board by-laws.
