Child Care Facilities
A child care center to receive 13 or more children for childcare
and preparing food for on-site
consumption
falls under the jurisdiction of the Texas
Food Establishment Rules (pdf) and is regulated as a food
service establishment. The annual permit
fee per child care facility is $125 and inspections
are performed based on the risk level.
Any facility licensed to receive less than 13 children for
child care fall under the jurisdiction of the Texas Department
of Protective and Regulatory Services, Day Care Licensing.
The facilities are inspected by Environmental and Consumer
Health, on an annual basis, upon request. The inspection fee
is assessed according to the type of facility.
The fee
for a group day home inspection is $50.
Fees must
be obtained prior to receiving an inspection from
the Galveston County Health District.

Home Facilities
Nursing
home facilities fall under the jurisdiction of the Texas
Food Establishment Rules (pdf) and are regulated as a
food service establishment by
Environmental Health Programs. All concerns or inquiries of
a non-food nature should be addressed to the Texas
Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).
