Primary Role: Emergency Medical Service (EMS)

Operates out of five stations with six twenty-four hour MICU ambulances and a Supervisor unit covering the 140 square miles of Galveston County, Texas. The service area includes the Cities of Galveston, Tiki Island, Bayou Vista, Hitchcock and the unincorporated areas of Galveston County on east Highway Six and in the Bayshore area off of Highway 146. Secondary Role: Non-emergency transport – Galveston (EMS)
GAAA dedicates two ambulances twenty four hours daily and up to five during periods of peak demand to provide non-emergency transport of ambulance patients. patients in the southern portion of Galveston County, including the cities of Texas City, La Marque, Dickinson, Galveston, Hitchcock, Bayou Vista and Tiki Island. Additional units can be called into service should the requests for service dictate.

GAAA responds with PHI Helicopters, Inc. to rescue the sick and injured in the adjacent coastal waters from Corpus Christi to the Louisiana border. Air Med One has responded to more than 150 rescues.

GAAA provides a bicycle response team for mass gathering events on Galveston Island. This service has proven itself with several quick responses to critical patients in the midst of large crowds as in Mardi Gras and Beach Party Weekend.

GAAA is establishing a “Tox” medic program to adequately respond to Hazardous Material Incidents and any Bio-terrorism threats. GAAA is equipped to protect the patients and its personnel from most of the worst agents EMS might face.
