with the Galveston County Health District announced today
they have moved the administrative offices of the Galveston
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the Island Community Center
at 4700 Broadway. This move will provide administrative personnel
with improved facilities enabling them to better serve the
citizens of Galveston.
Greg Kunkel, Chief of Operations for the Galveston
EMS says, “This move will provide EMS with additional
space to better coordinate staff and improve training capabilities.
Additionally this move will free up much needed space at the
main station which has been needed for some time.”
Per capita Galveston EMS remains one of the
busiest EMS services in the state. Currently ambulance responses
remain at an all time high topping the 10,000 mark at the
end of October.
“The Health District enjoys working with
the City of Galveston to provide this valuable service to
all residents and visitors,” states Jay Holland, Chief
Operating Officer for the District. “Galveston EMS has
seen a steady increase in the number of calls responded to
for several years and we continually work to meet the growing
need.”
