Half-Price Cat Adoptions

Galveston County and Cities – Each spring during “kitten season,” many newborn kittens join the cats already at the Galveston County Health District’s Joe Vickery Animal Shelter at 3412 Loop 197 North in Texas City.

To help find loving homes for these feline beauties the shelter will be offering half-price cat adoptions during the month of June which is recognized as National Adopt-A-Cat month.  This is the perfect time to add a new feline friend to your family.  The shelter is teeming with cats; wacky kittens, adventuresome adolescents, captivating young adults, and mature comfort seekers.  Cats of all ages and personality types await the perfect match-up.

All adoptions at the District’s animal shelter include having the cat spayed or neutered, a rabies vaccination and a microchip which helps reunite owners with lost pets.

It is well known that indoor cats live longer than outdoor cats.  For that reason Animal Shelter staff encourages cat owners to keep their cats safely in the house, or build a “catio” outdoor enclosure where cats can enjoy the outdoors without facing some of the risks that being outside brings.

Photographs of cats available for adoption at the Joe Vickery Animal Shelter can be found on www.petfinder.com, but those interested are encouraged to visit the shelter as new ones arrive daily. Shelter cats can be found in all colors, sizes and coat patterns.

The half price cat adoptions during June are being generously underwritten by the Animal Alliance of Galveston County and Boot Kikkers Bingo.  The shelters hours of operation and contact information can be found at www.gchd.org/animal_shelter.
