Committed volunteers help to ensure our success. As a Health
District volunteer,
you can play an important role in helping us meet the goals
and objectives of our Strategic Health Plan while providing valuable services to
the community.
Some of the many exciting volunteer opportunities with the
Health District include:
Immunizing children and adults to prevent the spread
of infectious diseases
Answering the phone and giving assistance to callers
Assisting with animal services provided at the Joe
Vickery Animal Shelter in Texas City
Being available to respond in the event of a public
health emergency
Our volunteers represent a variety of professions, age
groups, and cultural backgrounds. By donating their time to
help patients, families, and visitors, they have become and
integral part of the Health District’s team.
The Health District’s volunteer program is funded by an
innovative Community Impact grant from Mainland United Way.
The new program operates a Community Advisory Committeewith
representatives from allareas of the District, including
senior organizations.
Schedule a brief interview with our Volunteer
Coordinator, Shirley Carr, RN, who will get you started on
the basic requirements, i.e. immunizations and a volunteer
badge.
